Registering For a JEDS Account

Last Updated April 7, 2021

How to create a new account on New Jersey’s Judiciary Electronic Document Submissions (JEDS) portal.

To electronically file eviction documents with the New Jersey courts, you’ll need to create a new account on the Judiciary Electronic Document Submissions portal, known as JEDS. Follow these quick steps, below to get started.

Access the site by visiting https://www.njcourts.gov/selfhelp/jeds.html, from a desktop or a laptop. At this time JEDS is not compatible with mobile devices or tablets.
01
Select First-time User.
02
You’ll have three steps to complete. Be sure you have access to your email. Once you have submitted the form, an activation link will be sent to the email address you provide.
03
Enter a unique User ID and a Password. On the right-hand side, it will detail the characters required in order to save a successful password.
04
Provide your contact information. The court will use the email, phone number, and/or address you enter to communicate with you. They’ll inform you of your court date and may provide you with other case-related details.
05
To protect your account, you’ll be required to select three security questions and provide an answer for each. It helps to select questions for which you can easily remember the answer.
06
Review the Privacy Terms and select the check box to confirm you agree with the terms.
07
Give the information you have provided a once-over to ensure everything is correct, then click “Complete Registration.”
08
Check your email and click on the activation link to activate your account.
09
You are now all set. If you did not receive the activation link, you can return to this screen and click “Resend Activation Email” located at the top.
10

Once your account is set up, you will be ready to initiate an eviction suit by electronically filing your pleadings through JEDS; watch our next video to learn how to do this in just a few clicks.
